High temperature color conductivity at next-to-leading log order

The non-Abelian analog of electrical conductivity at high temperature has previously been known only at leading logarithmic order: that is, neglecting effects suppressed only by an inverse logarithm of the gauge coupling. We calculate the first sub-leading correction. This has immediate application to improving, to next-to-leading log order, both effective theories of nonperturbative color dyna...

Orientational order in block copolymer films zone annealed below the order--disorder transition temperature.

We report measurements of rapid ordering and preferential alignment in block copolymer films zone annealed below the order-disorder transition temperature. The orientational correlation lengths measured after approximately 5 h above the glass-transition temperature ( approximately 2 microm) were an order of magnitude greater than that obtained under equivalent static annealing. The ability to r...

un 2 00 7 Optical conductivity of polaronic charge carriers

The optical conductivity of charge carriers coupled to quantum phonons is studied in the framework of the one-dimensional spinless Holstein model. For one electron, variational diagonalisation yields exact results in the thermodynamic limit, whereas at finite carrier density analytical approximations based on previous work on single-particle spectral functions are obtained. Particular emphasis ...

Structural metrics of high-temperature lattice conductivity

An atomic structure-based model for high-temperature lattice conductivity is developed for both compact crystals and cage-bridge crystals. For compact crystals, where long-range acoustic phonons dominate, the Debye temperature TD and Grüneisen parameter are estimated using interatomic potentials to arrive at the lattice conductivity relation. Under the assumption of homogeneous deformation, TD ...

Method for analyzing second-order phase transitions: application to the ferromagnetic transition of a polaronic system.

A new method for analyzing second-order phase transitions is presented and applied to the polaronic system La(0.7)Ca(0.3)MnO3. It utilizes heat capacity and thermal expansion data simultaneously to correctly predict the critical temperature's pressure dependence. Analysis of the critical phenomena reveals second-order behavior and an unusually large heat capacity exponent.
